Has
anyone in the office heard or read something about an office group doing a yoga
workshop, retreat or seminar lately? Companies are having such sessions after
statistically finding that there have been fewer health issues with employees
who participated in such sessions.
In such a session with Nancy Downey, you all participate in a specially designed group yoga routine that will be stress free and carefully guided. Everyone will be involved in a safe, caring and mindful journey towards better health with inner peace and tranquility and will walk away with a rested mind and body. What better way to manage what could be a pressure related, stressful working environment but to participate as a group, in a yoga session with Nancy Downey? Below is a testimonial from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas who did such a session. Testimonials:
December 3, 2008 To Whom It May Concern: I was a member of the strategic planning committee that facilitated the University of Nevada, Las Vegas William F. Harrah College of Hotel Administration’s strategic planning process. The committee was interested in creating a strategic planning climate that was open-minded, dynamic, and collegial. We decided that the incorporation of yoga into the process might contribute to the atmosphere that we wanted to create. I had previously attended Nancy’s yoga classes at the Henderson Multigenerational Center. I had found Nancy to be well-prepared, engaging, and down to earth. I had confidence that she could help the strategic planning committee establish the climate that we needed in order to accomplish our work. Nancy did a great job. She provided yoga sessions for the faculty and staff during the initial day-long strategic planning session and for our follow-up meetings. Although we had been concerned that some of the faculty and staff would be resistant, Nancy was able to engage the majority of the faculty and staff in the yoga sessions. Our faculty and staff members have many different levels of fitness, yet Nancy provided a nonthreatening and supportive environment that encouraged the participation of everyone. She was also able to adapt the poses so that everyone who participated could be successful. She has a wonderfully relaxed, friendly, and professional instructional style that contributed to a supportive learning environment. After the yoga sessions, many of our faculty and staff members told me how much they had enjoyed them. I do believe that the yoga sessions helped the strategic planning committee create an optimal environment for tackling challenging issues. We related to each other more effectively as colleagues. We were able to relieve some of the stress that often comes from tackling difficult issues. We were able to approach our tasks from a more centered place. I would recommend Nancy to any organization that is interested in the incorporation of yoga into their meetings. Sincerely, Cheri A.
Young, Ph.D. November 7, 2009 To Whom It May Concern: My organization, American College for Advancement in Medicine (ACAM) consists of holistic medical doctors who are very proactive in their health. Our members lead active lifestyles and treat their bodies to whole foods and stress relief exercises. We contracted Simple Steps to provide yoga sessions to our attendees while we were in Las Vegas for our semi-annual conference. It was such a pleasure to work with both Nancy Downey and Karen Galloway as they were very professional and knowledgeable about their profession. The service they offered to our attendees was invaluable as their bodies were in a state of shock and chaos from their travels and from the city of Las Vegas itself. While most of our attendees are seasoned yoga practitioners, Ms. Downey and Ms. Galloway were able to make the sessions very personal and our attendees raved about how it was a great way to start the day. Simple Steps made a tremendous effort to make sure they had a program put together specifically for our attendees and created a safe and calming environment. Ms. Downey and Ms. Galloway continually adapted to our changing needs and were able to accommodate our times, dates, locations, and special requests. I highly recommend the services of Simple Steps to any organization looking to provide a unique way to show your employees, attendees and delegates you care. The sessions will reduce their stress and open their minds for learning and productive sessions. We are very much looking forward to integrating these sessions into all of our meetings held in Las Vegas. Sincerely, Megan
